Boston Celtics Name Joe Mazzulla Permanent Head Coach

Assistant Coach Promoted After Impressive Start as Interim Head Coach

The Boston Celtics announced on Thursday that they have named assistant coach Joe Mazzulla their permanent head coach.

Mazzulla, 34, has been with the Celtics since 2019 and has served as the team's interim head coach since the departure of Ime Udoka in September.

Under Mazzulla's leadership, the Celtics have compiled a 42-17 record and currently hold the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Mazzulla's contract is a four-year deal, and he becomes the 18th head coach in Celtics franchise history.
